Disaster Consulting Services

We provide consulting services on Risk Modeling & Assessment, Multi-Hazard Approaches, Urban Resilience, Use of Frontier Technologies (UAV, AR, VR), Climate Change, Cross-cutting issues, GIS-based database management, and so on. We focus more on the digital approaches and provide temporal and spatial dimensions to our works which enables the easy handling, visualization, and management of the data.

There is a fusion in our approaches that incorporates the basics and fundamentals of the preliminary approaches aided by the modern-day scientific approaches. We believe in the development of an enabling environment for the stakeholders to adapt and successfully implement the co-created solutions. We integrate effective, efficient, and goal-centric services through the innovative ideation, conceptualization, supervision, and implementation of the activities.

Research and Development

With the major focus on evidence-based approaches, IHRR’s prime thematic area is under Research and Development. The innovative approaches towards a research problem, use of frontier technology, a fusion of interdisciplinary realms, promotion of local and indigenous knowledge, adoption of transboundary approaches, synchronizing with collaborative efforts, and more focus on action-based research are the major driving factors of this theme. It also involves the sublime efforts of the collaboration of the Academia by involving Research Associates and Students with the industries.

While maintaining high standards of ethics, values, and professionalism, we design and co-create a rational solution to the research problem. We have a team of professionals, surveyors, and mappers to carry out the effective survey and data collection making use of the scientific approaches through the frontier technologies. The collected data is then processed and analyzed through the lens of multiple stakeholders and then visualized to meet the objectives of the research.

Disaster Education

The envision of Disaster Academy is one of the most prioritized thematic areas of the Institute of Himalayan Risk Reduction. It is mostly concerned with the building of capacities and development of efficient actors for Disaster Risk Reduction. DRR Academy hosts a number of Webinar Series that include one of the popular Himalayan Webinar Series, DRR Series, and so on. It also involves the development of Information, Education, Communication (IEC) materials for the risk communication and information dissemination in the local language, promoting indigenous practices, conducting training and exchange programs.

Besides, We do provide an interactive learning environment to our practitioners and students. Similarly, we also provide different types of short-course training programs, tailored training packages in Google Earth Engine, GIS Mapping, OpenStreetMap, and so on to students, researchers, and government and non-government officials. Our team is enriched with professionals having prior experience in leading the training sessions, advocacy sessions, and technical engagements.

Youths in DRR

With a view to develop a pool of active change makers, IHRR is promoting youth and young professional in the field of disaster risk reduction in order to contribute to the sustainability. It also involves the generation of Internship opportunities for the early career researchers and young professionals in order to nurture and co-create new projects to strengthen the capacity building and development addressing the real field-based problem.
