About the Presenter:
Ganesh Raj Joshi (PhD, Post Doc)
Dr. Ganesh Raj Joshi is currently working as a Researcher at the United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD), Japan. He has completed PhD from University of the Ryukyus, Japan in 2010. At the UN, he is mainly responsible for the Environmentally Sustainable Transport (EST) Initiative and the Regional EST Forum in Asia. The Regional EST Forum in Asia is a leading transportation project in Asia, which is composed of high-level government representatives from 25-member countries in Asia including the Russian Federation.
Dr. Joshi has extensive experiences in policy and planning for building safe, resilient, liveable and sustainable cities and communities. His research focuses on smart and resilient city development, natural hazard and disaster risk reduction, environmental protection and climate change areas. He was actively involved in organizing an Asian Ministerial Forum and Mayoral Forums on EST, and other international workshops, seminars and training programmes of the United Nations for policy makers, planners and national and city government officials on land-use planning, sustainable transport, safe, resilient and liveable urban development, among others. Dr. Joshi has published numerous research articles in national and international journals.
