Institute of Himalayan Risk Reduction (HRR) has been conducting webinars on Geoscience for sustainable development as well as on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRR/M) through virtual platforms. IHRR advocates and prioritizes the science-based decision making in DRR/M.In this context, IHRR launched its first Himalayan webinar series in July, 2020 on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management.
This webinar series is categorized in two themes; Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and Geoscience for sustainable development. IHRR has completed its ninth webinar series on Geoscience for sustainable development and five series on DRRM so far facilitated by Professionals, DRRM expertise with experience and young scientists.
The major objective of this online webinars is to provide an overview and insight on components of Disaster risk reduction, Risk management policies and use of technologies in DRR, importance of geoscience for sustainable development as well as to share the valuable insights into the underlying factors of vulnerability to hazards and the features of those hazards. IHRR envisions preparing risk informed societies for achieving disaster resilience and sustainable development.
This webinar brings together international experts in DRR/M and geoscience, professionals, policymakers for sustainability, researchers and beyond to discuss the application of interdisciplinary knowledge with Science, Engineering, Technology and Innovation as well as to contribute to risk reduction. The webinar is open for all researchers/practitioners in relevant fields.
